Norwegian company Abyss AS praises the exceptional services provided by Slippurinn Akureyri as their vessel Fosnafjord undergoes maintenance at the northern Icelandic  shipyard. Stephen Merricks, Technical Manager at Abyss AS in Kristiansund, who has 22 years of experience with the company, highlights the quality and comprehensive nature of the services offered.

"This isn't our first time using Slippurinn Akureyri's services; we've previously brought Fosnakongen here as well," Merricks explains. "The service quality and workmanship are outstanding. They have everything we need – it's truly a 'One Stop Shop'."
Fosnafjord serves as a service vessel based in Bíldudalur, supporting salmon farming operations throughout the Westfjords region, including Patreksfjörður, Bíldudalur, Tálknafjörður, and Þingeyri. Abyss AS maintains a successful leasing arrangement with Arctic Fish and Arnarlax for both the Fosnafjord and Fosnakongen service vessels.

Garðar Jóhannesson, Project Manager at Slippurinn, confirms the excellent working relationship with Abyss AS. "We're dealing with true professionals here," he notes.

Merricks expresses satisfaction with multiple aspects of the service: "The accommodation facilities that will soon be ready are excellent. The warehouse service is exceptional. The staff, mechanics, steel workers, electricians – everywhere you look, the service is outstanding." He particularly commends Heiðar and his team in the Electrical Department for their excellent work on a significant portion of the project. "Even our cook says the canteen quality is hard to beat," Merricks adds with a laugh.
The Norwegian technical manager concludes with warm sentiments about the location: "Akureyri is a wonderful town, and we feel at home when we come here. We look forward to returning."

This collaboration between Slippurinn Akureyri and Abyss AS demonstrates the high-quality marine services available in North Iceland and showcases the importance of international partnerships in the maritime industry. The comprehensive service offering positions Slippurinn Akureyri as a key player in supporting fish farming operations in the Westfjords through their maintenance of essential service vessels.

Slippurinn Akureyri og Íslenska Gámafélagið (ÍGF) hafa gert með sér samning um heildstæða sorphirðuþjónustu með skýra áherslu á flokkun og aukna endurvinnslu. ÍGF mun annast sorphirðu hjá fyrirtækinu og beita lausnum sem draga úr umhverfisáhrifum starfseminnar og stuðla að sjálfbærni í rekstri. Innleiðing nýs kerfis hefst eftir sumarleyfi starfsfólks, en stefnt er að fullri útfærslu í haust. Með betri flokkun og meðhöndlun úrgangs má bæði auka nýtingu hráefna, draga úr orkunotkun og minnka mengun. Á sama tíma skapast aukin hagkvæmni þar sem förgunarkostnaður fer hækkandi.
